A pressure tank on a gas well, owned by Everflow Eastern, ruptured and flew 70 feet through a fence and an earthen dam.

A tank, that is owned and operated by Echo and Everflow Eastern, was struck by lightning and leaked oil into a creek that flows into the Meander Reservoir.  This reservoir provides drinking water to 300,000 Mahoning Valley residents.  The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) was called in for clean-up.

Natural Gas Well Explosion Causes Evacuation

 

Nova (Ashland County)

Half a dozen homes were evacuated after a natural gas well exploded in northern Ashland County.  The explosion ignited a small building near the well. The building was a total loss and the pump was damaged.  Nova resident Mark Kammer lives next to the natural gas well which he said is a hazard. Kammer said the fire department has been called more 20 times over the past seven years because of problems with the well.

Gas leak in Mayfield Heights forces evacuation

 

SOM Center Road (Cuyahoga County)

Due to a gas leak, a portion of SOM Center Road in Mayfield Heights was closed and the traffic was diverted.  Also, several buildings in the area, including at least two apartment complexes, multiple businesses and a Wendy's restaurant, had to be evacuated as a result of the gas leak.
