Why STAND:

On May 12, 2009 the Warren City Schools signed a contract with Everflow Eastern to drill for natural gas in an effort to bring more money into the school district.  Unfortunately, these gas wells were to be located in the heart of a highly residential area.  Further more, the neighbors were not given adequate, if any, notification prior to the School Board's vote on such an incredibly important issue.  Neighbors were also denied an opportunity to have their thoughts, ideas and concerns included in the decision making process.

Immediately after the local newspaper announced the School Board’s plans, the community began speaking out against the wells.  This land, once home to Garfield Elementary School, is currently a grassy field that measures only 300 feet across.  It is now home to neighbors who play with their children, walk their dogs, chip golf balls on the weekend and take advantage of one of the few green spaces left in the city.  This contract allows for up to 6 wells to be drilled on this property, a mere 100 FEET from 40+ homes!

Please help us to take a S.T.A.N.D. (Standing Together Against Neighborhood Drilling), and hopefully our School Board and the State of Ohio will listen to its residents.
